Soft Rocks

Brighton re-edit brigade (with a couple remixes starting to surface) goes deeper than your average. Slow-motion rock with a heavy sprinkling of Stevie Nicks gold dust.

Soft Rocks - "Black Magic"

Morricone + Alan Parsons

Ennio Morricone - "La Scoperta Dell' America (Esotica)" [1977]

Ennio Morricone - "Gli Scatenati" [1977]

Alan Parsons Project - "The Gold Bug" [1980]

Mit + Luke Abbott

MIT - "Rauch (Luke Abbott Remix)" [2008]

One from the inbox -- Border Community's Luke Abbott reshapes Mit's electro-punk sound into whooshing, pulsing ambient pop. The vocal treatment makes the track -- real disorienting, like something Animal Collective might put out. Lovin this.

Siren went by in a blur, yow. Too much fun. Hope everyone liked our jams. Come out to Cake Shop this Thursday 7/24 for Home Blitz / caUSE co-MOTION / Face Accidents / Lame Drivers playing rocknroll and me and Whitey and Ian playing rekkids.

No Age + Telepathe + Abe Vigoda

No Age - "Eraser"

Telepathe (live)

Abe Vigoda - "All Night and Day"

Cool free show tonight at South Street Seaport, should be perfect weather for this.

Zachariah + Dewey Martin

Various Artists, Zachariah OST (Probe 1971)
Cool soundtrack featuring the James Gang, Country Joe & the Fish, Elvin Jones and some great scene-setting music by Jimmie Haskell. Haven't seen the movie, but not only did it star Don Johnson and a bunch of the musicians, but the clips available on Youtube make it look like a post-hippie Western version of Cop Rock.

The James Gang - "Laguna Salada"

The James Gang - "Country Fever"

Jimmie Haskell - "Camino"

Jimmie Haskell - "Matthew"

Soundtrack to this 1970 biker flick featured an ex-Buffalo Springfield member and his new band rockin out in a Leon Russell / Chilliwack "Seventeenth Summer" style. Loving this sound right now (and if we're talking 2008 might as well tack Quiet Village's "Gold Rush" onto the end of the acid cowboy roll call).

Dewey Martin and Medicine Ball - "Indian Child"

Kelpe + Lee 'Scratch' Perry

Kelpe - "Shipwreck Glue" [2008]

From the new DC Recordings comp Death Before Distemper 2 .... roll my tape for another favorite track off it (63 Crayons - "Heal Us"). Great label.

Lee "Scratch" Perry - "Shine" [2008]

Still undecided about some of the club jams on Repentance, Lee "Scratch" Perry's forthcoming record produced by Andrew W.K., but the opening track hits the spot. Rrrrrrrr-olling!

Congos - "Ark of the Covenant"

Indian Jewelry - Swans
Lee "Scratch" Perry - Shine
Glass Candy - Candy Castle
Padded Cell - City of Lies

Bob Dylan & The Band - Yazoo Street Scandal
Selda - Yaz Gaztecki Yaz
